WARTS & OTHERS

Warts are growths occurring on the skin, and they most often appear in plural form. While there are several types of warts, all are caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). They can appear anywhere on a person’s body, but most commonly, people have them on their hands and feet. Warts have a mild symptomatology and are not believed to be contagious. They can be disturbing, primarily because of the injured area of the skin, since they can also be relocated either through direct contact or through touching other parts of a person’s body.

CAUSES OF WARTS

Direct Contact with HPV

Having seamless skin-hugging contact with an infected area of a person or a single skin contact. Anytime a person touches contaminated surfaces with the virus, such contact occurs in showers, pools, etc.

Entry Points

Warts are strong communicators, whereby they enter your skin through cuts (small) or small scratches.

Week Immune
System

Warts pose a serious risk to humans who are suffering from other ailments that weaken their immune system; HIV infections, organ transplants, or specific prescribed medications pose a serious challenge to a person's immunity.

Other Risky Factors

Sharing personal items like razors, towels, or nail clippers, or frequent exposure to warm, moist environments.

TREATMENT FOR WARTS

  • Topical Antifungals: Creams, lotions, or sprays containing clotrimazole, miconazole, or terbinafine for mild infections.
  • Antifungal Powders or Sprays: Help reduce moisture and prevent recurrence.
  • Oral antifungals: Fluconazole, terbinafine, or itraconazole are available for swallowing and are recommended for severe or widespread Tinea infections.
  • Prescriptive ointments: When normal topical preparations are not fruitful, stronger variants are needed.
  • Oral medications: For nail fungus, terbinafine or itraconazole are commonly prescribed.
  • Medicated Nail Lacquers: Ciclopirox or lacquers are regarded as soothing.

PREVENTION OF WARTS

Good Hygiene

Washing one's hands repeatedly while in contact with warts can be really useful.

Avoid Sharing Personal Items

Do not ever share towels, socks, and razors with someone.

Avoid Scratching Warts

One avoids the transfer of the virus to more surfaces.
